What this covers

Filament is a single-player puzzle game for Android, published by Unit Labs on Google Play. This page explains what the game uses and why. It adds detail to the Unit Labs privacy notice. Where the two differ for Filament, this page applies.

Summary

  • No ads, and no advertising networks.
  • No analytics or crash-reporting tools in the game.
  • No Filament game server. Your progress stays on your phone.
  • Google Play handles purchases. Play Games sign-in is optional.
  • Unit Labs does not sell personal data.

On your device

The game stores your settings and progress in its own storage on your phone. That includes themes, best scores, saved Glyphs, challenge progress, the Filament Pro unlock state, and optional settings such as the daily reminder.

This data does not leave your phone. Device backup is turned off for Filament, so a phone backup or transfer does not carry the save to another device.

Filament Pro purchases

Filament Pro is an optional in-app purchase processed by Google Play. Google handles the payment and your payment details under the Google privacy policy. The game receives only the purchase status it needs to unlock Pro. Unit Labs never sees your card number.

Play Games

If you sign in to Play Games, Google processes your Play Games profile, achievements, and leaderboard scores under its own policies. Your gamer name and scores can be visible to other players on a leaderboard, according to your Play Games settings. Sign-in is optional, and the game is fully playable without it.

Daily reminder

If you turn on the daily Glyph reminder, the game schedules a notification on your phone. It is created on the device. Nothing about it is sent to Unit Labs, and no account is needed. Turn it off in the game or in Android settings.

Sharing a Glyph

When you choose to share a Glyph, the game makes an image of it and hands it to the app you pick from the Android share sheet. What happens next is governed by that app. Unit Labs does not receive a copy.

Permissions

  • Vibrate for haptic feedback during play.
  • Billing for the Filament Pro purchase through Google Play.
  • Notifications only if you turn on the reminder, on Android 13 and later.
  • Run at start-up to reschedule the reminder after the phone restarts.

Who else receives data

Google receives purchase data when you buy Filament Pro, and Play Games data when you sign in. Google acts under its own policies for that data. Unit Labs does not share or sell your data to anyone else, and does not receive your progress. We can disclose information we hold if the law requires it.

Children

Filament is not directed at children under 13. If you are under the age of digital consent where you live, use it only with a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.

Keeping and deleting

Data on your phone stays until you clear the game's storage or uninstall it. Either one deletes it at once. Google can keep Play Games and purchase records under its own retention policies. If you email us, we keep that message only as long as we need to help you. The steps are on the deletion page.

Your rights

Where the law gives them, you can ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. For Filament, that is usually only a support email. The full list of rights is in the Unit Labs privacy notice.

Changes

We update this page when the game changes. The date at the top changes when we do. For a material change, we will say so on this page.
